Job description: For an international couple who travel extensively between their properties in Monaco, Gstaad (Switzerland) and London we are looking for an experienced Travelling House Manager. Excellent formal knowledge, good level of French and the ability to cook are essential. Must be able to travel several weeks at a time.

The Principal is a Businessman who travels much with his wife, both go out for dinner frequently and entertain little and if so not on a grand scale. There are older children who live separately and visit. The Gentleman enjoys cooking himself and the couple are very self-sufficient. There is a 3 bedroom apartment in Monaco, a 4 bedroom chalet in Gstaad and a 4 bedroom townhouse in Belgravia, London. All residences are beautifully furnished and to very high standards. A full-time housekeeper/ ladies maid travels with the couple and cleans the properties. There are no pets. The households are run semi-formal, no uniform required.

The role is based and contracted in Monaco. Travel is to all of the properties and other destinations. The duties are:

-      Management of all three properties, eventually this includes the administration

-      Preparation of properties for each visit (often travelling ahead of the Principals)

-      Care of the wardrobes and laundry (including packing/ unpacking/ valet service) incl. ironing

-      Cooking light meals if and when required

-      Serving drinks and light refreshments

-      Laying tables and providing table service, if required

-      Assist the housekeeper, if needed

-      Ensure toiletries and cupboards are well stocked

-      Schedule and oversee contractors and liaise with suppliers

-      Make and oversee travel and social arrangements

-      Travel with the Principal on occasions to provide assistance

-      Keep accounts of outgoings and budgets

-      Oversee cars (including MOTs, service, valeting) and chauffeur duties

-      Caring for high end valuable items (fine china, silver, wines etc.)

-      Run errands and carry out personal shopping

 

Candidates require:

-      5 years’ experience as a house manager including staff management

-      Excellent formal knowledge of laying tables, table service and valeting

-      Sound knowledge of household organization including laundry management

-      French and English language skills

-      Clean drivers’ license and excellent driving skills (including luxury cars)

-      To be well-presented and have great organizational skills

-      The ability to cook light meals

-      To be computer and smart home literate

-      To be able to travel several weeks at a time

Candidates should have a meticulous eye for detail, be dependable, trustworthy, flexible, reliable and must be able to take and follow directions from the Principals. The client is looking for someone pro-active who is able to focus on the smooth running and continuity of all residences. Ideally candidates should have local knowledge of some of the locations.

We are looking for candidates with a calm personality, who have a gracious and refined demeanour and who are polite, conscientious and highly professional in their conduct. Candidates must be hands on in their approach and happy to assist with housekeeping or any other related tasks if necessary.

The hours are Monday – Friday from 9am till 6pm. If there is travel or work outside working hours, time in lieu is given. Accommodation is a separate apartment or apart-hotel in each location (or hotel rooms if travelling further afield).

 

Salary & Benefits:  £50000 – 65000 gross per year (paid in EUR) depending on experience (accommodation and travel provided) plus holidays.

LIVE-IN HOUSE MANAGER/ CHEF, SOUTH OF FRANCE,                           F8385

Job description: For a returning client, a French family based in the South of France we are looking for a full-time permanent House Manager/ Chef to oversee their property and grounds. Driver and dog lover essential. Cooking to dinner party standard. Live-in.

The family own a 6 bedroom villa near Eze sur Mer within large grounds and live there most of the year with travel over several weeks at a time. The family have two older children (late teens) and a large dog. There are two full time housekeepers and one gardener/ driver who assists with handyman jobs. When additional visitors arrive a local lady helps out with housekeeping. A state of the art kitchen and AC systems have recently been fitted.

The duties of the house manager/ chef are to ensure the villa is running smoothly, overseeing the staff and all meals, including sourcing and stocking up on fresh produce – there are no special diets (some visiting guests are gluten free). During the summers and holidays the family entertain in small numbers and for these occasions, cooking must be to dinner party standard. Service is informal but standards are high, particularly with respect to cleanliness. The house manager/ chef needs to be hands on, help out where needed (for instance with driving or packing), overseeing contractors, bills and budgets. Some professional chef training is essential. Meals are Mediterranean, light including fresh and poultry sourced from local markets.

Fluency in French and English is paramount. We are seeking candidates who have previously worked in the South of France and who have good local contacts. The family are very laid back and they are looking for someone who will become part of the family with long terms prospects. Their previous house manager left for Australia after 6 years. There are plans to upgrade the IT/ security system – knowledge of smart homes is an advantage.

This is a live-in role and a very nice self-contained apartment to the side of the property (own entrance) provided, with all bills paid.  

To work 5 days a week Mon - Fri (except when visitors are at the villa/ days off in lieu), afternoons are off. This is a permanent role. To start in Sept. 2017. Previous written references and DBS security check will be required.

Salary & Benefits:  EUR 60000 - £75000 gross/ year, depending on experience and holidays, self-contained apartment provided
