Job description: For a lovely young family in St. John’s Wood we are looking for an experienced female butler (for cultural reasons) to work full-time in shifts. No driving required. Shift work with an early start, cooked meals provided. Previous private household and/or 5 star hotel experience essential.

The household/ family:

6 bedroom beautiful property with large laundry, over 15 staff including 3 other butlers, housekeepers, nannies, chefs and security. 4 children (from a baby to age 15), charming parents, father travels much. Busy well-structured household running like clockwork. Family travel much and are always away for the school holidays and the summer. No pets. The role works in a team of three other butlers and reports to the house manager.

The duties:

- Welcome and assisting family and guests

- Assist keeping property tidy and clean

- Pack und unpack luggage and care for wardrobes

- Set and clear tables, provide table and drinks service

- Wash, clean and care for fine china, crystal and silver

- Prepare for and serve at events

- Assist with travel preparations and food purchases

- Carry out inventories

- Run errands and dispose of rubbish

Requirements:

- Min 3 years private household and/ or 5 star hotel experience

- Excellent service skills

- Ability to care for high end wardrobes/ fine china and silver

- Fluency in English

- Able to work shifts (must live locally)

- Ability to work as a team

- Good organizational skills and positive mind set

We are looking for candidates who are well presented, polite and who take pride in their work. Attention to detail and high standards are essential as well as a professional attitude. Candidates should be able to prioritize, anticipate the family’s needs, be flexible, reliable and have excellent communications skills. Uniforms including shoes are provided. Deep cleaning of curtains and cushions is carried out externally and a company cleans the windows.

The hours/ shifts are:

I       6.45am (7.30am at weekends) - 3.15pm  (an hour for lunch)

II       2.30pm - 11.00pm (an hour’s break) till 00.30am if family in residence

If transport is necessary it may be provided, if working late.

To work 6 days a week followed by 2 days off [consecutive days]. No overtime pay. Discretionary bonuses (none contractual).

To start Nov./ Dec 2017. A DBS security check and written references from private employers are essential.

Salary & Benefits:  £35000 gross/ year (approx. £520 a week) depending on experience plus holidays and discretionary bonus/ loyalty bonus

Job description: For a HNW family we are looking for a trained and experienced house manager to manage a fully staffed beautiful property in Primrose Hill, London. Must be pet friendly and be able to drive. Must have excellent knowledge of formal service and valeting.

The client, a busy family of 5, share their time between two properties abroad and London, where they visit 8-9 months of the year. The house has 5 bedrooms and is furnished to the highest standard and with style. There are housekeepers, an assistant, a driver and private chef as well as nannies. The household is run formally and there are several dogs and a cat. There are household manuals and the comings and goings of staff, contractors and visitors are complex.

The house manager reports directly to the Principals and their PAs. 

The duties are:

- Manage and schedule staff (rota)

- Oversee all housekeeping to high standards

- Schedule and manage contractors/ obtain quotes

- Ensure house is ready for Principals visit

- Provide a butler service (drink, table service)

- Provide valeting, pack/ unpack and care of clothing with help from the housekeepers

- Organize and deliver small events

- Oversee provisioning, stocks and inventories

- Keep account of household budget and expenses

- Cook light meals/ snacks if required (chef’s day off)

- Drive if required

- Care for the pets (which is shared among the staff)

- Run errands when required

Requirements:

- 5-10 years’ experience as a house manager (of several staff) within private households

- Must have formal training in house management (including valeting)

- Ability to cook light meals

- Previous experience of having worked/ driven in London

- Highly organized and immaculately presented

 

We are looking for candidates with excellent experience in a previous private and formal household with a thorough understanding of delivering to high standards and exceeding expectations. Candidates should have a track record of consistently high end service and be highly detailed and professional in their approach. While the Principals are not visiting all of the time, this role is about flexibility and about anticipating their needs. There is downtime when the family is not in residence.

 

The Hours: To work 5 days when the family are not in residence (6 days when in residence), approx. 8-2pm and 5-9pm

Accommodation: Separate self-contained accommodation provided close by. To start as soon as possible. A DBS security check will be required. Previous written references from private employers are essential.

 

Salary & Benefits:  £ 60000 - £75000 gross/ year, depending on experience and holidays, self-contained apartment provided
