Live-in Nanny, Bern, Switzerland

JOB FILLED. For a young Swiss family we are looking for a bilingual (English/ High German) speaking nanny to care for their children aged 2 and 3 ½. Clean driver's license essential.

The family live in a large rural property on the outskirts of Bern. There is a large garden that borders onto fields. The family are very laid back and casual with very high standards. Both parents work and the father sometimes stays away for several days at a time. There is a handyman who is looking after the outside of the property several times a week and a p/t housekeeper keeps the house clean. The children go to the local kindergarten (9am - 1pm) and to many activities in the areas. There are two cats in the household.

The duties of the Live-in Nanny:

• Sole care of the children
• All nursery duties
• Getting the children read in the morning
• Taking children to activities
• Planning trips, walks and engaging children in creative play
• Taking children to doctor appointments etc.
• Keeping their rooms tidy
• Looking after their laundry
• Accompanying family on holidays
• Preparing healthy snacks and cooking light meals for the children
• Light housekeeping (empty dishwasher/ etc.)
• One evening of babysitting (any more are paid extra)
• Occasional proxy parenting (no more than once every two - three months), paid extra

Requirements:

• Bilingual English/ High German (Hochdeutsch)
• 6 years of experience with similar ages and ideally childcare qualifications
• Valid Paediatric First Aid Cert.
• Well organized and friendly natured
• Highly dependable and reliable
• Excellent references from past families
• Recent security check

The family would like the nanny to become part of the family. The accommodation is a large en-suite bedroom in a separate part of the house with a spare room that can be used as a living room (with TV). There is use of a car. The family are keen on past longevity and are looking for a long term commitment. All meals provided. Ideally the family is looking for a nanny who is familiar with many outdoor sports (swimming in lakes, cycling, hiking, skiing, etc.)

With the children spending an increasing amount of time at kindergarten and later at school, the parents would ideally like the nanny to get more involved in PA duties to assist the parents in running the household and their personal lives as they are very busy. This would involve dealing with admin like paying bills, discussing utility contracts, overseeing contractors, obtaining quotes, researching projects, ordering online, making reservations. This can be discussed in more detail.

Please note that in Switzerland employees require to obtain their own Health Insurance.

Hours: Mon - Fri, 7.30am - 5.30pm with a two hour break while children are at Kindergarten (currently 9am- 1pm).

Salary: CHF 3800 - 4200 net per month depending on experience (on a live-in basis).
