For a lovely family we are looking for an experienced German speaking Nanny/PA to care for their children (B1.5/ G4.5) on a live-in basis in sole charge with a separate local apartment provided. Driver essential. 15% PA duties increasing over time.

The German family live in a large beautiful house right by a lake of a small picturesque village, south west of Munich (Munich Central 45 min by public transport). The house has 400m² and is newly furnished in an understated modern style, spacious, uncluttered and very comfortable.

The parents are busy professionals running their own company with the mother working two days/ week from home (with sole focus on work). The father is has two older daughters who sometimes stay over. The kid´s grandmother (a trained midwife) is currently assisting with childcare when needed, which will be reduced. There is a full-time housekeeper (who does the cleaning and shopping) and someone looks after the garden. There is a visiting small dog.

The parents are easy going, kind and fair and have a deep ethos of living in tune with the environment and nature – which the Nanny/ PA should share.

The current nanny is retiring when the new Nanny/ PA is found and a comprehensive handover is offered.

The daughter goes to kindergarten (with the parents dropping her off). It is largely the son (who is charming and a joy to care for) that requires childcare until he goes to kindergarten in two years´ time at which point working hours may change a little and the PA duties increase. The family is well organized but still welcomes tried and tested suggestions by the Nanny/ PA for the household (e.g. how to manage the family logistics and maintain an orderly family home).

The Duties of the Nanny/ PA:

Nanny duties:

  • Looking after both children with loving care
  • Providing age appropriate activities (reading, playing, singing, visiting local animal farm, play grounds, shores of lake, using bike with trailer etc.)
  • Booking appointment and taking children
  • Teaching children to care for and respect others
  • Clearing toys away, tidying and cleaning their rooms
  • Preparing healthy snacks
  • Cooking freshly for the children (organic produce)
  • Overseeing the laundry of the children (see comment below)
  • Assisting with small household duties (emptying dish washer, checking on laundry, tidying, etc.)
  • Pick- ups from Kindergarten
  • Keeping parents up to date
  • Babysit once a fortnight (to be agreed) or proxy parenting if required

PA duties (while the son sleeps in the afternoons) approx. 15% to be increased over time:

  • Research, booking trips and activities
  • Overseeing contractors, managing utilities and bills
  • Online shopping, running errands, assist with recycling

Requirements for the Nanny/PA role:

  • EU passport (must be legal to work in Germany)
  • Clean driver license and a safe driver
  • Fluency in German (Hochdeutsch) essential, other languages welcome
  • Have a min of 5 years experience with a min. of two children of similar ages
  • Must have strong knowledge of child development and needs either by experience or training
  • Ideally someone who is experienced in proxy parenting (paid extra and only needed once trust is established)
  • None- smokers only (no vaping or occasional smoking)
  • Must care for the environment (recycling etc.)
  • Great communication skills and well organized
  • Must be caring, loving and patient
  • Be able to swim

* If the Nanny/ PA has a keen interest in cooking and is keen to cook for the family regularly, then the housekeeper would take on the laundry duties of the children. Key is that both should work as part of a team ensuring the children are looked after and the house is in order.

The family has strong values on respecting nature, the environment and each other. The parents would like their children to grow up in a deeply nurturing environment where they can feel emotionally supported and safe at all times. Experience in supporting childcare development of similar ages is essential.  The Nanny/ PA should be emotionally present and caring, able to create a strong and loving bond with both children, by giving them all the attention they need. Childcare comes before other duties. Being able to seek open dialogue about all and everything relating to the children is essential to the parents.

The family is looking for someone who is ideally settled, mature in their outlook, happy to consider a long term role and who can offer a degree of flexibility if needed. There is no travel with this role at present.

Accommodation for the Nanny/PA is a self-contained local furnished apartment (with utilities paid for). A car can be provided if needed. Lunch while at work is provided.

Hours:  40 hrs, Mon – Fri, starting 7.30am to approx. 3pm or 4pm (with an hr for lunch), some days longer some shorter which can be specified, plus one evening of babysitting once a fortnight (to be mutually agreed) included.

Salary:  42000- 60000 gross/ year depending on experience plus accommodation and holidays.

To start: When the right candidate is found
